How long do payments take on Paymate?
Direct debit transactions (payments from an Australian bank account) are processed through Paymate like an electronic cheque and are subject to a full 3-business day Australian bank clearing rules. Weekends are not business days and transactions after 3.00pm are processed on the next business day. So a transaction submitted to Paymate on a Thursday will appear as "paid" into the seller's bank account on the following Wednesday.
Credit card transactions are processed through Paymate with one business day delay so that our security checks can assist in protecting our users from fraudulent transactions. Weekends are not business days and transactions after 3.00pm are processed on the next business day. So a transaction submitted by a buyer to Paymate on a Thursday after 3pm may not appear as "paid" into the seller's bank account until the following Monday.
